How to remove fabric softener stains?

The fresh smell of fabric softener on our clothes is wonderful on clothes that need a fresh scent but when it starts to cause stains on our clothes, we need to know how to remove fabric softener stains from our clothes. Use these few ideas on how you can remove the stains without harming your laundry.

The first thing that you need to know is the type of material that you are trying to remove the stain from. There are certain materials that you should not try to remove a stain from. Keep this in mind when you are thinking about removing the stain.

The first step in removing the stain is dampening it with some water and rub it gently with some soap. You will not want to use a soap that has a deodorant type of fragrance in it. You will also want to make sure that you use a laundry stain remover. Once you have rubbed the soap onto the item that needs to be cleaned, you will want to rinse it with clear water. After you have thoroughly rinsed the item, allow for it to air dry.

For the materials like acrylic, plastic, aluminum and other pore’s surfaces, you will want to wipe up the spill as soon as you can. The longer the chemicals sit on the surfaces, the more damage it will do to the surface. You will need to wipe the area clean with a wet sponge that was dipped inside of some warm, soapy water. After you have cleaned the area, make sure that you rinse it well and then wipe it as dry as possible.

If you do not notice the spill right away, this can be harder to get rid of. If you have a tile floor or floor that has been waxed and the fabric softener has sat on the floor for a while, you will want to still clean up the mess as soon as possible and allow it to sit for a day before you attempt to wax or clean the floor with anything that will put the shine back on it.

Fabric softener is meant to be good for keeping our laundry smelling great but there is a drawback to using it and one of those drawbacks is that it can stain and damage certain materials so keep this in mind when shopping for fabric softener and when storing it.
