Washing your clothes in warm water will cause them to shrink at a faster rate in the dryer. Washing all of your clothes in cold water is the safest way to prevent against shrinking. The next time you are putting a load of wash in, you should move the settings to cold water. This will help keep your clothes from shrinking.

Tumble Dry

Another popular tip for helping you to avoid shrinking your clothes involves using the tumble dry low setting on your dryer. Drying your clothes using too much heat can also be one of the main causes of shrinking your clothes. This problem is made worse when you also wash them using warm or hot water. If you use the tumble dry low setting on your dryer, it will use less heat. This might take longer to dry your clothes, but it will prevent them from shrinking during the drying process. When you use the hottest setting on the dryer, you are damaging the fibers that the clothes are made out of and causing them to shrink. Just use the tumble dry setting and you should be able to prevent shrinking.
